J. Michael Bowman
J. Michael Bowman, Chairman and President/CEO, Delaware Technology Park, has extensive experience in fostering the growth of entrepreneurial companies. Appointed by the Governor of Delaware to lead the development of the Technology Park, he has been instrumental in helping many companies succeed. Over 500 new jobs have been created since the Park's opening in 1993. As CEO, he identifies and brings in new companies to the Park, guides them to needed resources and oversees the development of the 40 acre, five building ($50 million/250 thousand sq. ft) research park. First appointed and current Chairman of the Board, he plays an instrumental role in bringing government, academic and industry together to build an innovative climate friendly to young companies. The Park's focus is on life sciences, information technology, and advanced materials.
Mike also serves as guest lecture at the University of Delaware and chairs a Board for its College of Engineering. Prior to joining the Park, Mike was Vice President/General Manager, at the DuPont Company. As a senior executive, he led global businesses such as TEFLON, as well as the creation and growth of new businesses in fibers and advanced composites. Mike serves on the board of several start-up technologies based companies in the Delaware area and has played an instrumental role with LLuminari since its inception.
